Electricity calculators for Bangladesh

Free, tariff-aware calculators for everyday electricity questions in Bangladesh — what an appliance costs to run, whether solar pays back, how to convert watts to units, and what load shedding really costs.

Monthly bill calculator

The flagship calculator on the home page. Enter your meter category and units to get a full bill breakdown.

Appliance cost calculator

Enter wattage and daily run-hours for any appliance to see exact cost per day and per month at the current Bangladesh tariff. Covers single appliances and full-home loads.

Solar savings calculator

Estimate how much you save per month with a rooftop solar installation under the net-metering policy, including payback period and 25-year return.

Watt → unit converter

Quickly convert watts × hours of use into electricity units (kWh) per day or month, then into Taka at the rate that applies to your meter.

Load shedding cost

Compare what an hour of load shedding actually costs when you switch to a diesel or petrol generator, versus what the same units would have cost on the grid.

Why a separate calculator for each problem?

The Bangladesh electricity tariff is not a single number. It has slabs that change with monthly units, demand charges that scale with sanctioned load, separate schedules for residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial use, and a 5% VAT applied on top of everything. A single “bill calculator” can answer the question “what will my next bill be?” but it cannot easily answer questions like “does running my AC for two extra hours actually move my bill?” or “if I install 5 kW of rooftop solar, how many years until I break even?”

Each calculator on this page focuses on one of those follow-up questions. They share the same underlying tariff data and the same calculation engine as the main bill estimator, so the numbers line up.

How accurate are these numbers?

All rates are sourced from the most recent BERC tariff order. We update them when BERC publishes a revision. The output is intended for planning, comparison shopping, and answering “is this worth it?” questions — your actual bill from DESCO or DPDC can still differ by a few percent because of fuel adjustments, meter rent, prorated billing windows, and security deposit changes. For an official figure always look at the bill issued by your distributor.
