Understanding Your Bill

Your electricity bill in Bangladesh consists of three main components:

Energy Charge

Based on the units (kWh) you consumed during the billing period

Demand Charge

Fixed charge based on your sanctioned/connected load (kW)

VAT (5%)

Government tax applied on the total of energy and demand charges

Calculation Formula

Total Bill = Energy Cost + (Demand × Load) + 5% VAT

Example:

  • 200 units consumed = ৳1,390 (tiered pricing)
  • 1 kW load × ৳42 = ৳42 demand charge
  • Subtotal = ৳1,432
  • With 5% VAT = ৳1,504 total
