Understanding Your Electricity Bill in Bangladesh

Electricity billing in Bangladesh follows a tiered pricing structure set by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). Your bill consists of three main components: the energy charge (based on units consumed), demand charge (based on your sanctioned load), and 5% VAT.

Six distribution companies, one BERC tariff

Your address determines which company supplies your meter. The rates per unit are identical — set nationally by BERC — but service quality, prepaid availability and billing details differ.
