Prepaid recharge calculator: how much reaches your meter

Enter what you recharge and your load to see how much reaches the meter as energy, and why the first recharge of the month always buys less.

Your recharge

Months skipped before this one:

Reaches your meter

৳832.92

≈ 98.0 units at ৳8.50/unit

You pay

৳1,000.00

VAT (5%)
− ৳47.62
Demand charge
− ৳84.00
Meter rent
− ৳40.00
Emergency / negative balance
− ৳0.00
Prepaid rebate (0.5%)
+ ৳4.54

The same amount as a second recharge this month would put ৳957.12 on the meter — fixed charges are taken once a month.

How the deduction works

  1. VAT is inside the amount you pay: amount × 5/105.
  2. On the month's first recharge: demand charge (load × ৳42) and meter rent (৳40). Charges for any skipped months are taken then too.
  3. Any negative balance from emergency or friendly-hours use is recovered.
  4. The 0.5% rebate is added, on the amount less VAT and meter rent.

This method matches the worked examples in NESCO's, DPDC's and BPDB's manuals to the paisa (their examples use the older 1% rebate). The units figure is an estimate — the real rate depends on how many units you use in the month.

Frequently asked questions

On the first recharge of the month: ৳1,000 minus VAT (৳47.62), demand charge (load × ৳42) and meter rent (৳40 single-phase), plus the 0.5% rebate. At 2 kW that is about ৳833. A second recharge in the same month only loses VAT — about ৳957.

Watt → unit converter

Quickly convert watts × hours of use into electricity units (kWh) per day or month, then into Taka at the rate that applies to your meter.

kWh ↔ unit

1 unit = 1 kWh = 1,000 watt-hours. They are the same quantity under two names, so there is nothing to convert — here is the arithmetic, what it costs in taka, and why watts are a different measure entirely.
